Jon Scheyer’s potential Duke basketball successor: Shane Battier

Shane Battier, a 2001 national champ and three-time NABC Defensive Player of the Year, hasn’t been a coach either. However, the 42-year-old boasts a wealth of accomplishments and endeavors.

He’s a two-time NBA champ. Presently, he’s on the board at software company Yext after having spent four years as the Miami Heat’s vice president of basketball development and analytics.

Chances are Battier would be smart and charismatic enough to figure it all out if the situation in Durham ever cried for his help.

Granted, by then, the natural-born leader might be running for president or something.

That’s OK. Besides, 2010 Duke basketball champ Jon Scheyer should serve his alma mater well for years to come.
