Jon Scheyer’s potential Duke basketball successor: Grant Hill

Joining early-1990s teammates Bobby Hurley and Christian Laettner, Grant Hill is one of only three Blue Devils to hang both two national championship banners and their jersey number in Durham.

After that, Hill went on to become the program’s greatest NBA product of all time. Nowadays, on top of being an informed, well-liked, well-spoken, well-known TV voice for both the college and pro level, the 48-year-old Hall of Famer is a co-owner and executive of the Atlanta Hawks.

Assuming that Hill would indeed accept the opportunity to rescue the Blue Devils should Jon Scheyer flame out, his smooth style and perpetually beyond-his-years wisdom suggest he could learn on the fly as a new head coach despite never even serving as an assistant.

Yes, at Duke and beyond, Hill has forever been a quick learner.
