The first 2022 Duke basketball recruiting offer should arrive in two weeks.

Renowned recruiting insider Andrew Slater recently tweeted that he foresees Montverde (Fla.) small forward Dariq Whitehead ultimately landing a Duke basketball offer during the five-star rising senior’s official visit to the campus. That trip, which Jason Jordan of SI first reported this week, is set to begin on June 11.

Of course, those who follow Slater on Twitter know that he keeps what is arguably the strongest ear to the ground across the entire recruiting trail. In other words, his forecasts regarding major recruiting happenings seldom turn out wrong.

Therefore, while there are still no 2022 offers on the table from Blue Devil head coach Mike Krzyzewski and his staff, it seems safe to assume Whitehead won’t leave Durham empty-handed. So in all likelihood, the 6-foot-8, 205-pound versatile athlete will become either the outright first in his class or one of the first to officially see his name on the Duke basketball wishlist.

Whitehead ranks No. 8 overall on the 247Sports 2022 Composite with a relatively complete repertoire that is equal parts powerful, crafty, and smooth:

Although he has already raked in more than 20 offers, the New Jersey native hasn’t yet marked his calendar for any official visits outside of the one to Durham.

As it stands, Dariq Whitehead would be the only prep on hand with the Blue Devils across the first half of June. And given the scheduled date, he’ll also be the first among his 2022 peers to make an official visit to Duke.

However, three others are slated to do the same in late June. This group consists of Bishop Meige (Kan.) five-star small forward Mark Mitchell, Westtown (Pa.) four-star center Dereck Lively, and Wilbraham & Monson (Mass.) four-star power forward Kyle Filipowski.

Now, concerning that trio’s potential offer status in the eyes of Coach K & Co., well, folks may not learn this intel until either after their visits or a similar Andrew Slater tweet appears beforehand.
