Two former Duke golf stars were paired together in the first round at the BMW Championship in the Fed-Ex Cup Playoffs.

The second event of the Fed-Ex Cup Playoffs is underway, and two former Duke golf standouts were paired together for their first rounds in Kevin Streelman and Adam Long.

Streelman, who was tied for the lead following the opening 18 holes last week at The Northern Trust, continued his poor play from last week into the opening round at the BMW Championship with a six-over opening round, with a low-light of a triple bogey at No. 14, which moved him to three-over.

The 41-year-old then finished his round with bogeys at No. 16 and No. 18 and with pars at No. 15 and No. 17.

As for Adam Long, he had a better day than his Duke counterpart, ending his round at two-over.

Like Streelman, Long also had a challenge in the finish to his round as he reached one-under for the tournament with a birdie on No. 14. But bogeys on No. 15, No. 16, and No. 18 erased any chance of him reaching the clubhouse under par.

It was not the best day for the rest of the field at Olympia Fields North Course in Olympia Fields, Illinois as Hideki Matsuyama leads the tournament at three-under.

Both Adam Long and Kevin Streelman are ranked at No. 27 and No. 28 in the Fed-Ex Cup Standings, respectively, as only the Top-30 players will advance to next week’s Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia.
