Duke basketball: Eight revealing remarks from coveted five-star recruit

Key quote from Duke basketball target Kennedy Chandler about Memphis
Kennedy Chandler on Memphis
Before Kennedy Chandler’s announcement in late May of his transfer from Briarcrest Christian in Memphis to Sunrise Christian in Wichita for his senior year of high school, the Memphis basketball program was seen as a stronger contender for the well-balanced perimeter weapon. This is what he said then to Pro Insight about Penny Hardaway and his Tigers staff at the time:
“It’s my hometown. I’ve known Penny for a long time. I’ve known him ever since I was little. I watched him coach in high school and middle school. I played AAU for his AAU team, and he watched me play. I really have a good relationship with him. I also play with Mike Miller’s son, so I have a good connection with him as well.”
Here’s what Chandler, who has obviously shown signs of being a phenom at the point for quite some time, looked like as a guard on Team Penny:
Well, as noted, in the weeks since those words, Chandler has shown that having to be more than 500 miles from home is no deterrent to his future plans. Plus, Miller has since left Hardaway’s bunch to take the head coaching job at Houston High School in Germantown, Tenn. And the recruit’s message about Memphis to Rivals this week sure comes across as less promising for the Tigers:
“Coach Penny [Hardaway] has been calling me a lot and texting me and stuff like that. Ever since Mike Miller left, they are trying to find a new assistant coach, and I’m looking forward to meeting their new coach.”
Speaking of a childhood favorite, what has Chandler said of late about the Duke basketball program?…
