Key quote from Duke basketball target Kennedy Chandler about North Carolina

Kennedy Chandler on North Carolina

There’s no doubt Kennedy Chandler respects the North Carolina basketball program and is grateful for the time that the coaches in Chapel Hill have allotted for his pursuit. That much is evident from his May conversation with Pro Insight:

“Roy Williams has been recruiting me really hard and calling me a lot. For in-school visits, he’s come and seen me the most, so I really appreciate him for coming to see me a lot during practices and games. I’ve also seen good point guards that come out of there like Coby White, he’s got Caleb Love coming this year, and Cole Anthony. I like the style of play they play and the way he lets the guards loose.”

Despite the appreciated efforts, though, his comments this week to Rivals about the Tar Heels, though similar in nature, could be viewed as discouraging for them. See, Chandler has visited each of his other five finalists, but he has yet to check out the UNC program in person and may not get the chance to:

“They call me a lot. They really want me…I have a good relationship with them, and they really want me to go down there. I promised them that I would go there, and I really want to go there, but with all this stuff I don’t know if I want to wait until like January.”

Moving on now to another of Chandler’s blueblood pursuers…
