Possible 2022 Duke basketball targets with bumps in rankings: MJ Rice

434. SF. player. 6-foot-5. 210 pounds. MJ Rice. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Rise on 2022 Top247: Five spots, from No. 39 to No. 34 overall (No. 2 in Virginia)

Composite ranking: No. 21 overall

High school: Oak Hill Academy (Va.)

Scouting report (from SI director of basketball recruiting Jason Jordan): “[Rice] combines elite athleticism, brute strength, and scoring ability on all three levels. This season, Rice was pumping in 25 points, nine rebounds, and two assists a game for Durham (N.C.) Academy before tearing his ACL in December.”

Offers to date: Less than a dozen reported, notably from Boston College, Louisville, NC State, Ole Miss, Pitt, Providence, and Wake Forest

Sign that Mike Krzyzewski and his gang may join the race (what Rice wrote in his SI blog following an unofficial visit last season): “The atmosphere was great…Coach K talked to me about how they’d been watching me and would continue to watch me…The staff there was so supportive, and they showed a lot of love. You can tell that it’s really a brotherhood there, so that’s what stood out to me the most.”
