The Duke football program is continuing to make noise on the recruiting trail with the Class of 2022.

Duke football head coach David Cutcliffe has his eyes on a top prospect from the state of North Carolina in Class of 2022 running back Michael Allen.

Allen, a native of Greenville, North Carolina, picked up an offer from the Blue Devils earlier in the week and could be looking at a long and detailed recruiting process as the No. 121 prospect in the country.

The 5-foot-10, 181-pound standout at J.H. Rose High School spends most of his time at tailback but could also be described as an ‘athlete’ according to many recruiting tools.

Michael Allen is ranked as a four-star recruit and the No. 5 prospect in his home state of North Carolina and the No. 10 athlete in the rising junior class, according to 247 Sports.

Allen also holds offers from Appalachian State, East Carolina, North Carolina State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

Adding to the good fortune the Blue Devils are experiencing on the recruiting trail, Duke made the Top-3 finalists for Class of 2021 defensive end Mattheus Carroll.

Carroll is a Baltimore, Maryland native and also placed Maryland and Virginia Tech in his final three schools.

The 6-foot-5 disruptive playmaker is a three-star recruit and is ranked as the No. 755 recruit in the rising senior class, No. 47 weak-side defensive end, and No. 22 player in the state of Maryland, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

Carroll has not released an announcement date yet, but he is a heavy lean to stay home and join the Maryland Terrapins.

Duke currently has 10 commits in the Class of 2021, split evenly between offense and defense, but the Blue Devils do not have a Class of 2022 commits as of yet.

David Cutcliffe’s ’21 crop of players is ranked the No. 38 class in the country and No. 10 in the ACC.
