Matthew Hurt of the Duke Basketball team was named as the ACC Freshman of the Week after his dominating performances over Boston College and Miami.

This week was a perfect week to have two great games as Duke freshman Matthew Hurt ended 2019 with a career game and started 2020 with another stellar performance.

Due to his dominance over Boston College and Miami, Matthew Hurt was named as the ACC Freshman of the Week.

On Tuesday night in the win over Boston College, the Minnesota native dropped a career-high 25 points in a 39-point win over the Eagles.

Hurt was 10-of-16 from the floor and 5-of-10 from 3-point range in addition to four rebounds and one steal.

Following his career night, Hurt went down to Miami and stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and three steals in a 33-point victory for the Blue Devils.

The 6-foot-9 forward was 6-of-8 shooting against Miami and split a pair of 3-point attempts.

Matthew Hurt becomes the fourth Duke Blue Devils to be recognized as the ACC Freshman of the Week with Vernon Carey Jr. winning the other three.

Carey Jr. was also named as the Co-ACC Player of the Week on November 25 and Tre Jones the Co-ACC Player of the Week on December 9.

As Matthew Hurt continues to improve and develop in his first colligate season, he becomes a much more important player for Duke as the Blue Devils were handed the unfortunate news of Wendell Moore suffering a broken hand in the win over Miami.
