In the victory, Carey Jr. posted 20 points and ten rebounds on 8-of-11 shooting and making all four of his free throw attempts. The Florida native also accumulated two blocks and a steal.
Thursday night marked Vernon Carey Jr.’s eighth double-double in the past nine games after his streak of seven straight double-doubles was snapped in Duke’s win over Virginia Tech on December 6 when the freshman had 12 points and five rebounds in 15 minutes.
Carey was Duke’s second leading scorer on Thursday as sophomore Joey Baker exploded for 22 points off the bench in the win.
On the season, the 6-foot-10 center is averaging 18.6 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game while shooting 61.0% from the field, 66.7% from 3-point range, but only 63.7% from the free throw line.

Last season, Zion Williamson won the award five times while R.J. Barrett was acknowledged four times.
Carey Jr. was once named as the ACC Co-Player of the Week this season, but this week those honors go to Markell Johnson of North Carolina State and Kameron McGusty of Miami.
