Injuries have been a theme in Brown’s time at Duke, as he was limited to nine games last season due to injuries.
The Blue Devils running back was dinged up in the season opener against the Alabama Crimson Tide, but was on the field for Week 2’s game against North Carolina A&T.
Brown was injured right before halftime in Duke’s first win of the season and did not return in the second half. The Georgia native was held out of the Blue Devils’ win over Middle Tennessee but did return after the bye week against Virginia Tech.
In the 45-10 win over the Hokies, Brown only received two carries for 13 yards before being removed from the game in the third quarter.
On the season, Brown has accumulated 12 carries for 56 yards and two receptions for 13 yards.
With only seeing action in three games this season, red-shirting could be an option for Brittain Brown under the new NCAA rules stating that a player must play in less than four games to still be eligible for a red-shirt.
Duke is still in capable hands in the backfield without Brown in preseason All-ACC running back in Deon Jackson who has 54 carries and 232 yards with two touchdowns and sophomore Mataeo Durant with 122 yards on 37 carries and a touchdown.
Perhaps the most effective runner for the Blue Devils this season has been quarterback Quentin Harris who has 303 yards on 51 carries and two touchdowns.
Duke will be back on the field on Saturday, October 5 against the Pittsburgh Panthers at Wallace Wade Stadium at 8:00pm EST on the ACC Network.
