Duke only has one player, Deon Jackson, that was selected to the Pre-Season All-ACC team and the Blue Devils running back made the team as an All-Purpose player.

However, several Blue Devils, including Jackson, have made Pre-Season Award Watch Lists for their individual positions.

Deon Jackson and Brittain Brown were both named to the Doak Walker Award Watch List that it presented at the end of the season to the best running back in the country.

As season as a sophomore, Jackson rushed for 847 yards and seven touchdowns in addition to catching 26 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns.

Brown had his sophomore season cut short only playing in nine games, but found the end zone three times in addition to his 369 yards while catching one pass that went for 44 yards and a touchdown.

In Brown’s freshman season he was given 130 rushing attempts and ran for 701 yards and seven touchdowns while reeling in 14 receptions for 161 yards.

Victor Dimukeje was put on the Chuck Bednark Award Watch List, for the best defensive lineman in the country, entering his junior season after accumulating 41 total tackles and two-and-a-half sacks last year.

Dimukeje is looking to lead Duke’s defensive line this season as the team will need a good pass rush to make up for some deficiencies in the secondary.

He was also placed on the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List which is given to the best defensive player in the nation.

Noah Gray was selected for the John Mackey Award Watch List for the most outstanding tight end in the country.

Gray only caught 20 passes for 234 yards and a touchdown in nine games last season in part to sharing the field with Davis Koppenhaver.

On the offensive line Jack Wohlabaugh stood out at the end of last season after getting significant playing time due to the injury of Zach Harmon and he was placed on the Rimington Award Watch List.

The Rimington Award is presented to the best center in college football.

Wohlabaugh stated nine games last season and played in all 13 games after not seeing a single snap for the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2016 and 2017.

These five Blue Devils will look to lead Duke into the fire of the 2019 season when the team faces the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff from Atlanta, Georgia on August 31 at 3:30pm EST on ABC.
