The Duke Football team will officially play the No. 2 team in America on August 31 when they kickoff against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Pre-Season Associated Press Top 25 Poll was released on Monday afternoon and while the Duke Football team isn’t ranked, nor did they receive any votes, the Blue Devils will face a number of ranked teams this season.

It all starts on August 31 in Atlanta, Georgia when the Blue Devils take the field in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game against the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Tide start the season at No. 2 after dropping the National Championship to the Clemson Tigers in embarrassing fashion.

Clemson will start the season at No. 1 for the first time in school history.

Duke will then get a break from potentially Top-25 teams until the Blue Devils head down to Blacksburg to face the Virginia Tech Hokies on Friday, September 27.

Virginia Tech was not ranked in the Top-25 Poll but did receive 12 votes in the preseason poll.

Another team that Duke will face that was not ranked in the Top-25 but has drawn a lot of attention is the Virginia Cavaliers.

Virginia received 44 votes in the first edition of the poll as the No. 25 team, the Stanford Cardinal received 141 votes.

The Blue Devils travel to Charlottesville on October 29 to face the Cavaliers.

Duke will then get to host what should be a Top-10, possibly Top-5 , team on November 9 when the Notre Dame Fighting Irish come to Wallace Wade Stadium.

A College Football Playoff participant from a season ago will begin the season at No. 9 in the AP Poll.

The following week in Durham another preseason Top-25 team will visit Wallace Wade in the Syracuse Orange.

Syracuse is coming off an amazing ten win season and looking to continue the building of its football program.

The Orange are ranked at No. 22 to start the year and will have its date with the Blue Devils on November 16.

Finally, a team that always has a lot of buzz and excitement around it but usually fails to live up to that hype is the Miami Hurricanes.

Duke will welcome the ‘Canes into Wallace Wade in the regular season finale on November 30 and it remains to be seen how the season will fair for both of these teams but Miami will start the season outside of the Top-25, but did receive 70 votes to be included in the poll.

The Duke Blue Devils certainly have a long and tough road ahead of them and it will be a grind to reach that elusive six-win mark to become bowl eligible.
