The Duke Basketball captain Jack White could not lead Team Australia to the Gold Medal Match in the World University Games after the comeback attempt in the semifinals fell short.

It could have been one of the biggest comebacks in Australian Basketball history as Team Australia trailed by 11 with under five minutes to go in the fourth quarter against the Ukraine in the semifinals of the World University Games.

The Australians cut the lead to two with under 20 seconds to go, but could not get multiple attempts to go at the buzzer, giving Ukraine a 82-80 victory and a spot in the Gold Medal Game against the United States, who is being represented by the Clemson Basketball team.

The Blue Devil is coming off his best season in Durham seeing action in 35 games and averaging 4.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in 20.5 minutes per game.

Team Australia will still have the chance to compete for a medal as the Australians will look for revenge against Israel, who defeating the Aussies by 28 points in the first game of the group stage.

With a win against Israel, Australia would improve to 4-2 in the World University Games with wins over Mexico, the Czech Republic, Argentina, and then Israel.
