One of the senior captains of the Duke Basketball team led the way for Team Australia in the quarterfinals of the World University Games.

Jack White played with the intensity and dominance of the Duke Basketball player in Italy during the World University Games as he led Team Australian over Argentina in the quarterfinals and into the semifinals.

White scored a team-high 19 points in addition to four rebounds and three assists on 7-of-8 shooting and 3-of-5 from the free throw line.

In the group stage, White scored five points and six rebound in a Game 1 loss to Israel, who will be playing the United States (Clemson University) in the other semifinal game.

With its backs against the wall, Team Australia needed two victories to advance to the knockout stage and thats exactly with the Aussies did.

Mexico was up next for Australia and the current Duke Basketball forward once again scored five points and grabbed five rebounds in a much needed victory.

In what was essentially an elimination game, although there are several consolation games, Team Australia was facing the Czech Republic for a spot in the quarterfinals and White showed his big game ability and experience with eight points and eight rebounds in a 29-point victory.

Obviously that game was followed by the matchup with Argentina and big game Jack White put his country on his shoulders, leadings the team into the semifinals and giving Australia its fourth straight victory.

White’s 19 points against Argentina topped his career high with the Duke Blue Devils, which was 12, posted twice this past season in victories over San Diego State and Clemson.

Fellow ACC foe, Dejan Vasiljevic, of the Miami Hurricanes is also on Team Australia and scored 18 points in the Aussies’ win on Monday.
