The Green Bay Packers have signed Duke Football tight end Davis Koppenhaver to a contract as an undrafted free agent.

A fourth Duke Blue Devil has signed a contract with an NFL team as an undrafted free agent and tight end Davis Koppenhaver is now a Green Bay Packer.

Davis Koppenhaver isn’t a house hold name if you are a Duke Football fan, but his contributions on the field for the Blue Devils would go unnoticed but were unmatched.

More from Ball Durham

The tight end started in Durham in 2014 and only played in one game and caught one pass for five yards.

Sitting out the 2015 season, Koppenhaver would return to the field in 2016 and tied a career high with 17 receptions on the season for a career high 157 yards and two touchdowns.

Koppenhaver would match those 17 catches the next season and just fall short of his receiving yard total mark with 154 yards. The Valencia, California native did improve his scoring mark with three touchdowns in his junior season.

In Davis Koppenhaver’s senior season, he couldn’t be stopped from getting in the end zone.

In nine games, Koppenhaver had 14 receptions, half of them coming in the end zone as he finished the season with seven touchdown catches in addition to racking up 115 yards on the year.

Koppenhaver’s best game came in a loss against Virginia, but the tight end caught three passes for 44 yards and a touchdown, however, he did have two touchdown receptions against North Carolina Central.

There were only three games this season where Davis Koppenhaver played and did not score. Those games were the season opener against Army and against ACC foes Virginia Tech and Clemson.

Addressing the tight end position was a priority for the Green Bay Packers in the 2019 NFL Draft as the team drafted Jace Sternberger out of Texas A&M in the Third Round.

Davis Koppenhaver joined his fellow tight end, Daniel Helm, as signing as an undrafted free agent in addition to his teammates Joe Giles-Harris and T.J. Rahming.
