Duke will participate in a bowl game for the third consecutive year for the first time in school history, under head coach David Cutcliffe. Cutcliffe had this to say about Duke’s selection to the Sun Bowl this year, “To be selected to participate in the Sun Bowl is both a privilege and honor for our program. The tradition of the Sun Bowl is well documented, and it is exciting to become a part of that prestigious history…After our exam schedule this week, we look forward to returning to the practice field in preparation for what I anticipate to be a terrific game on December 27th in El Paso.”

Duke will be led by senior quarterback Anthony Boone and First Team All-ACC receiver Jamison Crowder, as well as linebacker David Helton on defense, who also received First Team All-ACC honors and led the conference in tackles. Some of the highlights of Duke season include a win over then-#22 Georgia Tech, who finished second in the ACC and will head to the Orange Bowl to face Mississippi State, a thrilling double-overtime win at Pittsburgh, and a rout of Wake Forest on senior day as the team commemorated Wallace Wade and began renovations to the stadium for next year.

The Sun Devils finished the season ranked 15th in the AP poll and their resume consists of several wins over ranked opponents including the University of Southern California (16), Stanford (23), Utah (17), and Notre Dame (10). The Sun Devils are led by running back DJ Foster who had over 1,000 rushing yards this season, as well as Jaelen Strong, a 6-3 receiver who finished with 1,062 yards on 75 catches.

Both of these teams will be looking to reach 10 wins again this season after going 10-4 last year and coming off of 2013 bowl game losses- Arizona State losing to Texas Tech 37-23 in the Holiday Bowl and Duke lost a tight game to Texas A&M 52-48 in the Chick-fil-a Bowl. The Sun Bowl will take place Saturday December 27th at 2 pm (12 pm MST) in El Paso, Texas. For tickets and more information, check out Duke Bowl Central here.
