2022 Military Bowl: The Elko era

Mike Elko wasted absolutely no time turning around the Duke football program, guiding the team to a 30-13 win over UCF in the Military Bowl behind sophomore quarterback Riley Leonard. The Blue Devils finished the season 9-4 with a 5-3 record in the ACC.

Leonard threw for 173 yards and ran for 63 and two touchdowns in the game and finished the season with nearly 3,000 passing yards and 20 passing touchdowns with just six interceptions.

Duke controlled the game from the very start, jumping out to a 20-7 first-half lead. UCF pulled within 10 points in the fourth quarter but failed to convert on a two-point conversion that would have cut it to a one-score game with nine minutes remaining. Leonard added insurance with a three-yard touchdown run with 2:29 left in the fourth.
