Things went from bad to worse for Duke Football before halftime against Notre Dame.

There’s no pleasant way to put it, Duke blew it at the end of the first half against Notre Dame.

Duke had a chance to cut their deficit to just three points heading into halftime, but couldn’t punch it in from less than 10 yards out. It’s was a total nightmare sequence for the Blue Devils, who could have feesibly run six plays to try and score a touchdown but decided to bleed the clock instead.

The sidelines are adorned with field paint that reads ‘Bleed Blue’, but that’s not exactly what fans had in mind.

To add insult, Duke missed a chip shot field goal — the second miss of the night for Tom Pelino — and the Blue Devils headed into the half empty handed and down by ten.

Duke also went to the locker room having drawn the ire and trolling of fans on social media.

It doesn’t get much more brutal than missing a field goal for the second time but doing it after having botched a goal line sequence.

Why Duke thought it was a good to bleed the clock — on itself — remains a mystery.  All we do know is that the Blue Devils took points away from themselves in a game that they could have made a statement in.
