Duke basketball Top-10 players of the 1990s No. 6: Cherokee Parks

  • 4 seasons at Duke (1991-95)
  • National Champion (1991)
  • Two-time Second Team All-ACC (1994, 1995)

Cherokee Parks is another Blue Devil that stands on the list as a National Champion and while his stats at Duke during its championship season might not stand out to many given he averaged just 5.0 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game during the title run, he developed into an outstanding player.

Parks averaged double-digit points in his next three seasons (12.3, 14.4, 19.0) in Durham in which he started in 96 of the 97 games he played.

As a junior and senior he was named as a Second Team All-ACC player and nearly averaged a double-double during his final season with the Blue Devils with 19.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest.

Cherokee Parks was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the No. 12 overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft and had a very lengthy career in the league in which he spent nine seasons with seven different teams.
