Duke basketball players prank Jon Scheyer during Chicago trip
The Duke basketball players pulled a prank on head coach Jon Scheyer.
Team bonding is always a priority in sports and the Duke basketball team is getting a head start this weekend.
The Blue Devils traveled to Chicago for an NIL event, which unfortunately had difficulties that forced the cancellation of the basketball portion of the trip, but the team still was able to learn about business investments and enjoy time on Lake Michigan.
However, when the team went out for dinner on Saturday night it was time for the players to pull a prank on head coach Jon Scheyer.
Duke’s social media team captured members of the team telling the wait staff at the restaurant that it was Scheyer’s birthday and his dessert was brought to his table with a candle and the rest of the Blue Devil traveling party signing ‘Happy Birthday.’

The only problem?
Jon Scheyer’s birthday is a little less than a month away on August 24.

The Duke head coach had a confused, but amused, look on his face as he had to process what was happening to him.
Duke basketball head coach could be plotting revenge
All was good at the end of the Duke rendition of the song as Jon Scheyer appeared to thank his team for the gesture and took the prank in stride, as any good sport would.
It seems like a big act to follow for when the team is back on campus for Scheyer’s actual birthday and any celebrations or antics that could take place.

Hopefully Saturday night will not turn into a couple more sprints for the team at the end of practice when they arrive back in Durham on Sunday afternoon.
Perhaps Jon Scheyer will turn the tables on his players and get them with a practical joke of his own.
