Former Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski watched a Blue Devil light up the stat sheet.
Mike Krzyzewski has been in-and-out of the spotlight since retiring as the head coach of the Duke basketball program but he made his way to Las Vegas this week to watch a former Blue Devil.
Krzyzewski was courtside for an WNBA matchup on Tuesday night as the Las Vegas Aces took on the Phoenix Mercury to see former Duke women’s basketball superstar Chelsea Gray.
Gray, in her third season with the Aces, is in the midst of her best season with the organization as Las Vegas eyes history with one of the best starts to a year in league history.
The Aces, once again, took care of business against the Mercury, 98-72, to remain unbeaten at home and improve to 18-2 on the season.

Chelsea Gray treated the Hall of Fame coach to one of the best shows on the Las Vegas Strip with a double-double performance of 21 points, six rebounds, and 11 assists on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor and making 3-of-4 shots from distance.
Las Vegas gifted Coach K one of Gray’s Aces jerseys.
Gray is averaging 14.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game this season as she was named to her 5th WNBA All-Star Game and will be looking to win her third championship after winning the Most Valuable Player of the WNBA Finals last season.

Krzyzewski first appears in the season during Episode 3 and he told the News & Observer that he was very surprised to learn that he wasn’t left on the cutting room floor.
Since his retirement, Coach K only attended one Duke game last season and it was the final time that his former assistant — and then Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey — would lead his team into Cameron Indoor Stadium.
