Duke basketball all-time scoring list: No. 5

2,323 points. 5. Pick Analysis. 1976-80. Mike Gminski. player. 434. Scouting Report

  • 4 seasons at Duke
  • Career Points: 2,323
  • Points Per Game: 19.0

Mike Gminski is another dominant center for the Blue Devils who averaged a double-double for his career at 19.0 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.

Gminski “worst” season at Duke came during his freshman season when he merely averaged 15.3 points per game but still saw him named as the ACC Co-Rookie of the Year.

Strangely, the 6-foot-11 center was a consensus First Team All-American in 1979 when he posted 18.8 points and 9.2 rebound per contest and a consensus Second Team All-American in 1980 when he improved to 21.3 points and 10.9 rebounds per game.

Gminski was the ACC Player of the Year following his junior season and was a three-time selection  to the First Team All-ACC.

Mike Gminski’s No. 43 is retired by Duke as well.
