The Duke basketball team will be hosting 5-star Isaiah Evans on an official visit.

The best player in the state of North Carolina will be visiting the Duke basketball program this weekend on an official visit.

Isaiah Evans, the MaxPreps North Carolina High School Player of the Year, will make the trip to Durham to see if he wants to add to the Blue Devils’ 2024 recruiting class.

The visit begins on Friday, April 14.

Duke only has one high school junior committed to the program in sharpshooter Darren Harris, but  head coach Jon Scheyer remains heavily involved with several prospects including five-star guard Dylan Harper.

However, Evans is an elite prospect in his own right.

The 6-foot-7 forward is listed as the No. 10 recruit in the country, according to 247Sports, as well as the best junior in the state of North Carolina but the 247Sports Composite Rankings pin the North Mecklenburg product as the No. 27 player in his class and No. 2 player in the state.

Evans posted 26.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game this season but saw his scoring average skyrocket when he was averaging 38.6 points per contest in five state tournament games this season.

Isaiah Evans was also named to the MaxPreps Junior All-America Team, joining the Duke target Harper.

Duke basketball hoping to leave good impression on local product

Isaiah Evans earned an offer from Duke just days after he scored 62 points in a state playoff game but the local standout was already on the radar of the Blue Devil coaching staff before his explosion onto the national scene.

Evans was inside Cameron Indoor Stadium earlier this season when Duke knocked off Ohio State in the ACC vs. Big Ten Challenge and the energetic youngster joined the Cameron Crazies during the victory.

The Huntersville, North Carolina native has already taken an official visit to Florida State in October but holds offers from schools like Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, North Carolina State, Tennessee, and more.

There are no 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for Isaiah Evans but the On3 recruiting prediction machine currently has the Blue Devils as the favorite to land the local product.
