The biggest Duke basketball recruiting target is hoping to announce his decision in July.

Jon Scheyer could have a small recruiting class for the Duke basketball program in 2024 but he is still after one of the biggest fishes left in the pond, Dylan Harper.

Harper is the No. 4 player in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and has narrowed his choices down to Duke, Rutgers, Kansas, Indiana, and Auburn during his junior season but is not closer to a decision now than he was in the winer.

Many consider the Blue Devils and the Scarlet Knights to be the favorites for the son of Ron Harper Sr., a 5-time NBA Champion, however, the youngest Harper is expressing openness to each of his finalists.

The 6-foot-4 guard has already taken official visits to Duke and Indiana, plus an official visit to Rutgers, but told 247Sports at USA Basketball minicamp over the weekend that he expects to take officials to Rutgers, Kansas, and Auburn before making his decision.

That decision could very well come in July after Peach Jam begins on July 6.

“I am just waiting until after Peach Jam to make my announcement,” Harper said.

Duke basketball pressing hard for Dylan Harper

Jon Scheyer got a chance to watch Dylan Harper multiple times this season, once at the John Wall Holiday Invitational in Raleigh and then made the trip to New Jersey to watch the five-star prospect in his home gym at Don Bosco Prep.

“Right when I walked in and walked out they really showed me what the Brotherhood was,” Harper told 247Sports of his official visit to Durham.

“ Scheyer and the whole staff sat me down and told me what they could do for me and I really liked what I had to hear.”

Harper was also sitting court side when Duke played Iowa inside Madison Square Garden during the Jimmy V Classic this season.

The Blue Devils have already landed a commitment from 2024 four-star sharpshooter Darren Harris.
