Another top freshman addition to the Duke basketball team, Kyle Filipowski displayed his unique skillset and high ceiling on Monday night.

On the same day that he turned 19 years old, Filipowski had a strong debut that was highlighted with a double-double.

The birthday boy scored double digits while he added 12 rebounds, as well as two blocks while serving as the team’s best rim protector.

Standing at 7-foot-0, the freshman was able to display his athleticism as he was able to knock down two threes from deep and help get the transition offense started with his ball handling.

Filipowski’s passing was also a welcome sight. Having a seven footer that can stretch the floor and make pinpoint passes is a skillset that will greatly benefit Duke basketball for the season ahead.

Filipowski, or “Flip”, as he is better known to teammates and fans, will look to build on a strong debut and continue to improve while he awaits his front court partner in Dereck Lively to return to action.
