Duke basketball: Zion Williamson is ripped in huge announcement video

There is are no questions whether former Duke basketball star Zion Williamson is in shape. 

There have been a lot of questions surrounding Zion Williamson this season and very little answers for the former Duke basketball superstar, but those questions have been put to rest for now.

Williamson dropped a major announcement on Tuesday afternoon as the All-Star released his second signature sneaker on social media.

The video shows the former No. 1 overall pick looking lean and ripped as he lifts weights, trains, and plays basketball in the short clip.

The ‘Jordan Zion 2’ becomes available on June 22.

Williamson failed to see the court in the 2021-22 season due to a broken foot and numerous reports surfaced about his weight and commitment to the New Orleans Pelicans organization, including a harsh series of comments from Blue Devil legend, and one of Williamson’s Pelicans teammates, JJ Redick.

Zion Williamson was cleared to return to basketball activities as the Pelicans qualified for the playoffs this season but the organization did not want to rush the franchise cornerstone onto the court after missing the entire regular season.

Duke basketball standout eligible for contract extension

The biggest question surrounding Zion Williamson over the last several weeks has been his contract with the Pelicans.

Williamson is eligible for a rookie maximum extension this offseason but there were reports that New Orleans would be cautious about offering the maximum or a heavily guaranteed contract because of the forward’s injury history.

However, the former National Player of the Year has no hesitations or doubts about signing with the franchise that drafted him for the long term.

“I do want to be here. That’s no secret,” Williamson told reporters after speaking at a local New Orleans YMCA last week.

“I wouldn’t be able to sign it fast enough,” Williamson said of his possible five-year, $181 million extension.

New Orleans Pelicans vice president of basketball operations David Griffin called the Duke star “historically good” when he’s on the floor on The Ryen Russillo Podcast and offering him an extension would be an “easy decision.”

Zion Williamson has been limited to just 85 games in his three year career but is averaging 25.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.2 assists when he is on the floor.
