Projected Duke basketball starter: Jeremy Roach
Assuming Jeremy Roach comes back for a junior year in Durham, it seems like a sure thing that he would be a full-time starter in the backcourt. After all, in this last go-round, the 6-foot-2 electric point guard drew a start in 27 of Duke’s 39 games, including all five NCAA Tournament outings.
Roach’s season averages were only on par with those he put up in his lackluster freshman campaign. He finished with 8.6 points, 3.2 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.8 steals per game, shooting 41.0 percent from the field and 32.2 percent from downtown.
However, Jeremy Roach came up clutch on several occasions in the ACC Tournament and throughout Duke’s run to the Final Four. He appeared to experience a dramatic confidence boost, thereby probably solidifying a starting job for as long he chooses to stay in college.
And he could prove a perfect on-court leader of all the program’s fresh faces, working again in tandem for the Blue Devils’ sake with his former high school running mate…
