Future Duke basketball star Dereck Lively II

  • 10 points, four rebounds, three blocks

While his future teammate earned MVP honors, Dereck Lively II proved why he is worthy of his No. 1 ranking.

The 7-footer was a force for the East, making all five of his shot attempts to the tune of ten points, as well as grabbing four rebounds.

His biggest impact, however, was on the defensive side of the ball. Lively shined on the defensive end, showing just how scary of a presence he is down low with his length. He recorded three blocks and consistently disrupted drives with his length and ability to take up space in the paint.

With Mark Williams likely leaving after this season for the NBA, the Blue Devils will welcome Lively’s length and shot-blocking ability. He also boasts solid lateral quickness and can cover ground quickly when forced to defend outside.

Duke fans are certainly spoiled to be able to go from Mark Williams to Dereck Lively II next season.
