7. Former Duke basketball center Wendell Carter Jr.

Wendell Carter Jr., who played the 2017-18 season as a Blue Devil before going No. 7 overall at the 2018 NBA Draft, is now in his second season with the Orlando Magic. Although the 22-year-old is putting up some of the best numbers of his pro career, it’s worth noting that he is doing so for arguably the worst team in the league.

Still, he’s the only NBA Blue Devil averaging a double-double this year. Between 51 games, including 50 starts, Carter boasts the following season stats:

  • 14.0 points per game (career-high)
  • 10.2 rebounds per game (career-high)
  • 2.7 assists per game (career-high)
  • 0.6 steals per game
  • 0.7 blocks per game
  • 50.7 percent from the field
  • 32.1 percent beyond the arc
  • 70.6 percent from the charity stripe

Wendell Carter Jr. and the Orlando Magic (13-47), now dead last in the Eastern Conference standings, return from the All-Star break at 7 p.m. ET Friday when they host the Western Conference cellar-dwelling Houston Rockets (15-43).
