Three 2022 Duke basketball signees hold No. 1 rankings somewhere.

This week, On3 updated its 2022 Top Basketball Recruits. And one of the biggest risers was Kyle Filipowski, who became the first Duke basketball recruiting pledge of the Jon Scheyer era in late July.

Filipowski jumped from No. 14 to No. 1 overall in this latest edition. As a result of the move, the Duke Blue Devils now boast three top-ranked 2022 signees, depending on the source:

  • Wilbraham & Monson (Mass.) five-star power forward Kyle Filipowski sits No. 1 in the eyes of On3
  • Montverde (Fla.) five-star small forward Dariq Whitehead sits No. 1 in the eyes of Rivals
  • Westtown (Pa.) five-star center Dereck Lively II sits No. 1 in the eyes of ESPN.com and 247Sports

Per Rivals, the Duke staff enjoys commitments from the top three prospects in the class: Whitehead, Filipowski, then Lively. Meanwhile, On3, ESPN.com, and 247Sports see each of the three future Blue Devils among the top five. The 247Sports 2022 Composite pegs Lively at No. 1, Filipowski at No. 3, and Whitehead at No. 5.

All in all, an epic Duke basketball recruiting class

With all of the above rankings in mind, it’s no surprise Duke has a firm hold of the top spot on the 247Sports 2022 Team Rankings.

Currently, three others are on tap to join Dereck Lively II, Kyle Filipowski, and Dariq Whitehead as freshmen in Durham next season. They are Sunrise Christian (Kan.) five-star small forward Mark Mitchell (No. 13 on the 247Sports 2022 Composite), Yorkville Christian (Ill.) four-star shooting guard Jaden Schutt (No. 60), and Oak Hill (Va.) three-star center Christian Reeves (No. 167).

Also, Oak Hill five-star point guard Caleb Foster, who committed to the Blue Devils in September, is still weighing a possible reclass from 2023 to 2022. With or without Foster in the mix, the 2022 haul should go down as one of the deepest and most talented in program history.
