Duke Game Today: Duke vs Syracuse Injury Report, Odds, Predictions
It’s another chance for the Duke basketball team to respond after a crushing defeat.
After another conference loss for the Duke basketball team, the No. 6 Blue Devils (14-3, 4-2 ACC) return home to face the struggling Syracuse Orange (9-9, 3-4 ACC).
The Orange are coming off of a victory at home against the Clemson Tigers, but it has been a typical Syracuse season, as of late, for Jim Boeheim’s team this year.
Sitting at .500 on the season, Syracuse seems destined to have a late-season surge with a handful of key wins on its resume and be firmly on the bubble as the NCAA Tournament rolls around.
The Boeheim brothers, Jimmy and Buddy, are leading the way for their father’s team this season, averaging 25.4 points per game while Joe Girard is posting 13.9 points per contest.
Duke Injury Report vs. Syracuse
It is likely that Duke will be without freshman guard Trevor Keels, who was injured in the loss to Florida State.
Mike Krzyzewski said following the game that the injury was to his calf, and the team does not know how long he will be out.
Keels was listed as doubtful to return to the game against the Seminoles and is also listed as doubtful to play against Syracuse.
Trevor Keels is averaging 11.9 points per game this season.
Duke vs. Syracuse Odds: Spread, Over/Under & Betting Pick
WynnBET’s College Basketball Odds lists Duke as an 11.5-point home favorite against Syracuse while the over/under is set at 154.5.
The loss of Trevor Keels will certainly be felt more against a team like Syracuse and its zone defense as the freshman guard is a capable 3-point shooter for the Blue Devils.
Duke will have to rely on players such as AJ Griffin, Wendell Moore, and Joey Baker to try and hit its perimeter shots to expand the zone defense of Syracuse and allow lanes for Paolo Banchero to drive.
The Blue Devils looked dominant against Wake Forest after coming off of a heartbreaking loss to Miami (Fla.) at home, but things might be a little more difficult against Syracuse at home.
We will take Syracuse to cover the spread but Duke to win the game outright. We also predict the total to go over the number listed.
