Duke Game Tonight: Duke vs Georgia Tech Injury Report, Odds, Predictions
The Duke basketball team will be looking to start strong after another long layoff.
Long layoffs are becoming the norm for the Duke basketball program as the No. 2 Blue Devils were put on pause after the holidays.
Following a win over Virginia Tech on December 22, Duke and its players returned home for Christmas only to see multiple positive COVID-19 tests within the program upon their return.
The results forced the Blue Devils to postpone two games, against Clemson and Notre Dame, but the team has the requisite number of players to take the floor in Durham against Georgia Tech on Tuesday night.
Duke also had a two-week break in its schedule at the beginning of December, although that was built into its slate of games after a grueling month of November.
Mike Krzyzewski’s team was limited to just four games in December, all of which came in a nine-day period.
Georgia Tech is coming off a pause of its own as the Yellow Jackets fell to Louisville on Sunday, 67-64, in its first game since December 21.
Senior guard Michael Devoe leads the team with 21.2 points per game.
Duke Injury Report vs. Georgia Tech
It remains unclear which players tested positive for COVID-19 within the Duke program, but Krzyzewski said to the media on Monday that the team was waiting for one more test to come back before it knew who would be on the court against Georgia Tech.
The team’s social media accounts posted photos of practice on Monday in which all scholarship players could be seen in the limited photos.
Duke had no physical injuries on the team prior to the COVID pause.
Duke vs. Georgia Tech Odds: Spread, Over/Under & Betting Pick
WynnBET’s College Basketball Odds lists Duke as an 18-point favorite against Georgia Tech at home while the over/under is set at 141.5.
Duke looked strong in its first return from a two-week layoff this season, but Georgia Tech will provide a tougher test than a game against South Carolina State.
The defending ACC Champions lost their best two players, Jose Alvarado and Moses Wright, but the drop-off in production from the Yellow Jackets was not supposed to be as drastic as it has been this season.
A layoff combined with a large spread will lead us to take Georgia Tech to cover but Duke to win the game outright. We also predict the total to go under the number listed.
