Aspects of the Duke basketball team that were duds against South Carolina State

Rebounding

The rebounding numbers for Duke were a bit concerning as the Blue Devils were out-rebounded by South Carolina State, 42-39, and the Bulldogs were able to pull down 16 offensive rebounds in their losing effort.

Duke had been doing a much better job on the backboards in recent games, but Tuesday certainly felt like a step backward in that progress.

The margin of victory will hide the rebounding numbers, but it will be something the coaching staff must correct before conference play.

Turnovers

Much like the rebounding totals, the blowout victory will hide the fact that Duke was careless with the basketball on Tuesday night with 15 turnovers.

South Carolina State capitalized on the Blue Devil miscues with 16 points.

Valuing the basketball is vital to the success of any team, especially when the team goes on the road in conference play.
