Possible Duke basketball early departee: Jeremy Roach

Considering his unideal 6-foot-1 height, unproven 3-point prowess, and unremarkable speed for his position, Jeremy Roach still has a ways to go before regularly landing on 2022 mock drafts. And if not for considerable overall gains in the past few games, the sophomore point guard probably wouldn’t have landed on this list at all.

After a bit of a disappearing act against Kentucky in the season opener, the 20-year-old from Virginia is now on a three-game streak when it comes to scoring in double figures. Plus, at least at this early juncture, Roach has about doubled his steals per game from his last go-round, now averaging a respectable 1.5 through four games.

Roach, who finished at No. 23 on the 247Sports 2020 Composite before his lackluster rookie campaign in Durham, has also shown a notable ability to finish in traffic as of late. That strength, in addition to his potentially being in the limelight as an ever-improving starter for a top-tier Duke team, could catch the attention of pro teams should the wins keep piling up this season.

Prediction: Jeremy Roach sticks around for his junior year.
