Game 2: Duke basketball versus Army

The Duke Blue Devils will host the Army Black Knights, unranked to start the year, at 7 p.m. ET Friday (ACCN) in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The battle is against Mike Krzyzewski’s alma mater, where he began as a head coach and remained for five seasons until taking over in Durham. Therefore, the Blue Devils could have some issues in dealing with the various distractions that might arise from the event’s symbolic significance and all.

So perhaps anticipate a sluggish or peculiar cold start for Duke basketball. However, the sheer talent advantages at every position should begin dictating the score at some point before halftime.

Although the Black Knights have won double-digit games in 15 consecutive seasons, they’ve never won 20 or more in that span either. However, as always seems to be the case, Army is likely to appear gritty and bright on both ends.

But they’ll be no match for the Blue Devils in the end. That said, one thing’s certain: Coach K will do everything in his power not to run up the score.

Predicted final score: Duke 86, Army 60

The Blue Devils improve to 2-0 overall on the season.
