Game 15: Duke basketball versus Georgia Tech

The Duke Blue Devils will host the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, unranked to start the year, on Jan. 4 at 9 p.m. ET (ACCN) in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Sure, Georgia Tech sits at only No. 10 out of 15 programs in the 2021-22 ACC Preseason Poll. And that makes sense considering the Yellow Jackets lost their top two weapons from last season in 2021 ACC Defensive Player of the Year Jose Alvarado and 2021 ACC Player of the Year Moses Wright.

Nevertheless, sixth-year Georgia Tech head coach Josh Pastner has a noticeable swagger these days — deservedly so. His gang beat Duke in Atlanta last season, won the 2021 ACC Tournament, and gave him his second straight winning season, overall and in conference play.

Furthermore, don’t forget that the Yellow Jackets still have the services of a potent, savvy guard in Michael Devoe, who heads the Preseason All-ACC Second Team, in addition to several other significant pieces to their successful 2020-21 campaign. Look for this to be the biggest upset the Blue Devils will suffer throughout the entire regular season.

Predicted final score: Georgia Tech 68, Duke 65

The Blue Devils fall to 13-2 overall (3-1 ACC) on the season.
