Predicted 2023 Duke basketball recruiting prize: Caleb Foster

Since pledging allegiance to the Blue Devils in September, Oak Hill (Va.) point guard Caleb Foster is in line to be their future floor general — even if only for a potential one-and-done campaign. As the only pure backcourt weapon among high school juniors holding a Duke basketball offer, the 6-foot-5, 190-pound five-star may wind up as the program’s only elite 2023 perimeter addition.

Foster, a North Carolina native and admitted lifelong Blue Devil fan, ranks No. 9 overall on the 247Sports 2023 Composite. He started the year at No. 23 and sat No. 12 at the time of his commitment. In other words, there seems to be little doubt among recruiting analysts that the multifaceted playmaker’s stock is on the rise.

Here’s a snippet of the recent scouting report on Foster from 247Sports recruiting analyst Brandon Jenkins:

“Foster is a tough and smart point guard with terrific size for the position. He has a mature floor game, which is shown in his court demeanor and savvy…He has all the tools needed to run a team. Foster is not explosive off the bounce by any means, but he owns a solid skillset in how he can get where he needs to on the floor and can score from all three levels.”

Moving on, let’s project three talents, one at a time, to join Caleb Foster in the Duke basketball freshman class for the 2023-24 season.
