Fifth takeaway from Duke basketball secret scrimmage against Villanova

Another takeaway in which you have to look beyond the highlights to find it is that AJ Griffin could be nearing a return.

Griffin, who suffered a dislocated knee two weeks ago, did not participate in the scrimmage on Saturday, but he can be seen at some points of the game either on the Duke bench or directly behind the bench working out.

The portions of the video in which the New York native is working out begin at the 1:50 mark of the video, and he is seen doing light running and shooting throughout the course of the highlights.

The initial timetable for AJ Griffin’s recovery was 4-6 weeks, and while it seems unlikely that he will be on the floor at Madison Square Garden on November 9, although you can never rule anything out, his absence should not drag long into the regular season.

Griffin is another star freshman forward that could find his way into the Top-10 of the upcoming NBA Draft.
