Second takeaway in Duke basketball secret scrimmage against Villanova.

Much like Jeremy Roach, the Blue Devils are hoping that junior forward Wendell Moore can take the next step in his development.

Moore has flashed his potential, both offensively and defensively, in his first two seasons in Durham, but the biggest thing that the Charlotte, North Carolina native lacks is consistency.

However, if the first two scrimmages are any indication, Moore looks like he is poised to take that next step and lead this team both on and off the floor.

Wendell Moore, along with Joey Baker, was named as a captain in Mike Krzyzewski’s final season, and he should be a vital piece when Duke opts to play a small-ball lineup with Paolo Banchero at the center position.

Duke’s success over the last two seasons has been predicated on how well Wendell Moore plays on a given day, and that could be the case once again during the 2021-22 season.
