Detroit Pistons waive former Duke basketball one-and-done Cassius Stanley

This week, the Detroit Pistons cut three players from the preseason roster, including a recent Duke basketball product in Cassius Stanley. That said, as is the case with Marques Bolden, the 22-year-old is likely to see loads of G League action.

In Stanley’s one season as a Blue Devil (2019-20), the 6-foot-5, 190-pound high-flying guard was a full-time starter in the backcourt alongside Tre Jones. He averaged 12.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assists before declaring for the NBA Draft, where he went No. 54 overall to the Indiana Pacers.

Last season, while on a two-way contract with the Pacers, Stanley played in 24 NBA games but averaged only 1.5 points and 0.8 rebounds across a mere 3.9 minutes per game. Then after the Pacers waived him this summer, he signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Pistons.

Now, only time will tell if Stanley finds his way back on the big stage again.
