The Duke football program will host one of the worst Power-5 programs on Saturday afternoon.

A Duke vs. Kansas basketball game is must-watch television. A Duke football vs. Kansas game is quite the opposite.

However, the two schools will meet at Wallace Wade Stadium on Saturday afternoon as the Blue Devils eye a third consecutive victory while Kansas is looking for its first Power-5 victory since the 2019 season.

The Jayhawks had hoped to turn around their football program under the coaching of Les Miles, but the former National Championship winning head coach was fired from Kansas in March after accusations of inappropriate behavior toward female students during his time as head coach at LSU.

Since, Lance Leipold was named as the head coach of the Jayhawks, and Kansas won its first game of the season against South Dakota, an FCS school, 17-14.

The small student section in Lawrence, Kansas rushed the field after the win.

Quarterback Jason Bean not only leads the team through the air but also on the ground.

Bean is 37-for-66 this season for 409 yards and three touchdowns while not throwing an interception this season, in addition to rushing for two more touchdowns on 40 carries for 218 yards.

Since its opening day victory, Kansas has lost to No. 17 Coastal Carolina, 49-22, and Baylor, 45-7.

Duke football has to start fast yet again

The most surprising development in Duke’s victory over Northwestern was the quick start the Blue Devils had, burying the Wildcats at halftime.

Duke must do the same thing against Kansas in the first half, proving itself to be the better team as well as not giving the Jayhawks any hope of winning the football game.

The effective passing of Gunnar Holmberg and dominant rushing of Mataeo Durant need to be at the forefront of the Duke offense while the Blue Devil defense must be disruptive inside the Kansas backfield all game long.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00pm on the ACC Network.

PREDICTION: Duke 45, Kansas 13
