4. Notre Dame

JJ Starling was recently in South Bend on an official visit to Notre Dame. Evidently, according to his talk with Joe Tipton, he enjoyed his surroundings while in town:

“It was great. I toured the campus, and you get a feel for not only the coaches but also some of the teachers, like the counselors. It’s a great place. Everyone is welcoming and nice.”

Starling added that he has now visited the Fighting Irish multiple times:

“I know some of the guys there like Blake [Wesley], JR [Konieczny], P Hubb [Prentiss Hubb]. I know most of the guys, just because I’ve been up there unofficially two or three times…It’s a great place.”

As things stand, former Duke basketball assistant and current Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey has one 2022 commit in tow, four-star center Dom Campbell, who would not be in direct competition with Starling for minutes.

On top of that, the expected spring departures from a few of the program’s top guards could make the Irish a tempting option due to a potential wealth of available playing time.
