Duke basketball vs. Army

  • Cameron Indoor Stadium, Durham, N.C.
  • Nov. 12, 2021

Bet you didn’t see this one coming. But any visit by a service academy is special, and when you realize it’s Coach K’s alma mater coming into town, it’s ultra special.

The United States Military Academy at West Point molded the young man from Chicago into the winningest head coach of all time, as far as college basketball is concerned. He overtook his coach at Army, Bob Knight, in the process, which in itself will probably give extra meaning to the game.

Traditional logic would tell you that this game should be the easiest on the list to get tickets to, as it’s early in the season. But don’t bank of that.

This serves as the home opener for Duke. And given nobody’s been in the place since early 2020, Cameron Indoor will probably be rocking and rolling as only it can.

I get it’s a non-conference game in November and the Blue Devils should win cozily, but it stands to reason that both teams will be taking this one a bit more seriously than your average pre-Thanksgiving jilt.
