Duke basketball has found its way onto another top 10 prospect’s shortlist.

On Saturday afternoon, Duke basketball recruiting target Mark Mitchell tweeted his first list, the length of which suggests it may be his last before announcing his college of choice.

The five-star small forward’s “Final Four” consists of Duke, Kansas, Missouri, and UCLA.

Mitchell, who ranks No. 10 overall on the 247Sports 2022 Composite and will spend his senior year of high school at Sunrise Christian (Kan.), took official visits to each of his finalists in June. While he’s expressed no rush in wrapping up his recruitment before winter, the 247Sports Crystal Ball already pegs the Duke Blue Devils as frontrunners, yet with only one entered pick to date.

Here’s what the 6-foot-8 gem recently noted about Duke during an interview with 247Sports, explicitly touching on his comfort level with head coach Mike Krzyzewski’s upcoming successor, Jon Scheyer:

“I think how genuine Scheyer is in his approach and the class that he is trying to build there stands out. We definitely just connected with him being genuine. He has been upfront, thorough from the beginning, and told me that Coach K probably wouldn’t be there, and it has never made my perception of Duke any less.”

Scheyer has already reeled in two pledges for what will be his inaugural haul as head honcho. One is of the five-star variety in Montverde (Fla.) small forward Dariq Whitehead, who ranks No. 4 among rising seniors. The other, Wilbraham & Monson (Mass.) power forward Kyle Filipowski, is on the verge of a five-star rating at No. 31 overall.

As things stand, the addition of Mark Mitchell would bump the Blue Devils from No. 8 to No. 2 on the 247Sports 2022 Class Rankings.
