Will Duke basketball’s newfound 2022 recruiting momentum grow this weekend?
On Thursday, somewhat out of the blue, Wilbraham & Monson (Mass.) rising senior Kyle Filipowski announced his commitment to the Duke basketball program. In doing so, the four-star stretch-four, who sits No. 33 overall on the 247Sports 2022 Composite, became the first recruit to publicly pledge allegiance to Mike Krzyzewski’s successor-in-waiting, Jon Scheyer, as a head coach.

Fast forward to Sunday, when Montverde (Fla.) five-star small forward Dariq Whitehead plans to reveal his destination. Should he become a Blue Devil, Scheyer & Co. would undoubtedly enjoy extreme steam on the 2022 recruiting trail.
But the staff in Durham isn’t alone in chasing after the 6-foot-8, 205-pound multifaceted supreme athlete, whose composite ranking has risen from No. 14 to No. 6 in the class across the past year.
While Whitehead has not officially named finalists, insiders seem to agree that only three schools stand a reasonable chance. That trio consists of Duke, Florida State, and Kansas.
