Expected Duke basketball co-captain next season: Wendell Moore

As with Joey Baker, there’s no guarantee junior-to-be Wendell Moore will be a member of the 2021-22 Duke basketball starting lineup. After all, another stacked recruiting class is in town.

On the other hand, given the 29 previous starts for the 6-foot-5, 215-pound small forward from Charlotte, Moore likely has a better chance than Baker to be on the floor for tipoffs next season.

Granted, like pretty much every Blue Devil outside of Matthew Hurt last season, Moore’s performances were largely underwhelming.

However, the 19-year-old could’ve since bailed. Yet Moore has come back for more, with the hope of using last season’s disappointment to fuel a celebration in what will be Mike Krzyzewski’s final campaign before handing the reins to former two-time Duke captain Jon Scheyer.
