Jon Scheyer enjoys a few similarities to his latest Duke basketball target.

Late Sunday evening, Yorkville Christian (Ill.) shooting guard Jaden Schutt revealed on Twitter his most recent scholarship offer. And it is of the Duke basketball variety.

Makes sense.

After all, Schutt is a 6-foot-5 sharpshooter from the outskirts of Chicago. That, of course, is rather significant since the offer came from Blue Devil chief-in-waiting Jon Scheyer, a former 6-foot-5 guard himself who hails from the Windy City area and has absorbed wisdom in Durham from Chi-town native Mike Krzyzewski for most of the past 15 years.

As for things that don’t make much sense, look no further than Schutt’s mere three-star rating and current ranking among rising high school seniors at No. 169 overall on the 247Sports 2022 Composite. Even stranger, he has fallen more than 80 spots in the past year.

Duke basketball not alone in catching on to Jaden Schutt

One glance at Jaden Schutt’s long offer sheet, which includes the likes of Michigan State and Louisville, suggests he has the makings of a future bucket-getter in a major conference. Indeed, judging from the following highlight reel, it appears he does:

His moves appear to be crisp. His athleticism seems more than adequate to keep up in the ACC. Best of all, Schutt’s shooting stroke looks nothing short of silky.

Schutt is now the seventh prospect in his class to have received a Duke offer. But he is the only one of the bunch with less than a four-star rating.

As of yet, none of Scheyer & Co.’s seven 2022 targets have committed to playing their college ball in Durham; at the same time, though, all seven have given reason to believe they are still considering the Blue Devils.
