8. Duke basketball recruiting prospect Caleb Foster

  • Point guard
  • 6-foot-3, 175 pounds
  • No. 21 overall on the 247Sports 2023 Composite

Around 3 p.m. last Tuesday, Travis Branham of 247Sports tweeted that Oak Hill (Va.) five-star point guard Caleb Foster had already talked to Duke, Clemson, College of Charleston, Elon, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Memphis, NC State, Ohio State, Stanford, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.

The Blue Devil contact came from Jon Scheyer himself. And the reason for the interest out of Durham surely has something to do with Foster’s elite vision and seasoned handles. Yet perhaps the most impressive aspect of his repertoire is the shot-making prowess from seemingly all areas of the court.

Worth noting, Foster is a North Carolina native, and his former high school coach at Hickory Ridge, Robert Machado, said the following back in the fall to Robert Irby of the Independent Tribune:

"“I think, like most kids, [Foster] has grown up in the state of North Carolina, so those bluebloods are the big ones. Duke and Carolina, if and when they call, I think will resonate the largest with him because they have that household name, and everybody since they were a little kid dreamed of playing for one of those two teams.”"

Yes, this is just another sign that the Blue Devils and Tar Heels are sure to repeatedly cross paths on the 2023 recruiting trail.
