Ranking Duke basketball’s 14 recruiting prospects from 2023 class
By Matt Giles
12. Duke basketball recruiting prospect Jalen Lewis
- Power forward
- 6-foot-9, 210 pounds
- No. 12 overall on the 247Sports 2023 Composite
Bishop O’Dowd (Calif.) center Jalen Lewis certainly plays with confidence and has a penchant for finding dunk opportunities off the dribble, via post-up action, and in transition. Plus, the five-star prospect boasts a relatively smooth outside jumper.
Eric Bossi of 247Sports recently offered the following breakdown:
"“Lewis has a strong game and some real skill about his game in the low post. He can stretch defenses with some shooting, and he is a very crafty player who knows how to use his body. Few have seen him in person since the first half of his freshman year. Getting fresh eyes on him is going to be a priority for everybody.”"
Joe Tipton of Tipton Edits tweeted on Thursday that the Duke basketball staff reached out to Lewis on the same day he compiled offers from Kentucky and UCLA. At the moment, 247Sports lists 10 offers to his name. And while an offer from the Blue Devils is not yet among them, it definitely wouldn’t be a surprise to soon see that change.
